Google OS

Google have announced their new operating system, named Chrome OS. It has been said to include a range of features and due for release mid way through 2010.
Unlike most OSs, Chrome OS like most Google products is very much web-based using online apps like GMail etc.
“Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010. Because we’re already talking to partners about the project, and we’ll soon be working with the open source community, we wanted to share our vision now so everyone understands what we are trying to achieve.” Officical Google Blog
Google are going to be facing tough competition with Windows XP holding the majority of netbook OSs and Intel developing their own lightweight OS. I know I am looking forward to seeing what Google can make of it, tell me what you think with a comment below.
