Firefox 4.0 New UI
Personally I find this new look, planned to be released in 2010, an amazing new look. It’s only a mock up, a brainstorm of sorts, but this look could bring Firefox up to scratch with other browsers in the user interface category. My only worry is that they will lose some customizability with this change, will you still be able to move buttons and toolbars around to where you wish?
Here is another mockup for Firefox 4.0 with the tabs on top, found at https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/4.0_Windows_Theme_Mockups
There is also a scheduled change to the Firefox UI in the 3.7 release and more images and information can be found at: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/3.7_Windows_Theme_Mockups

With the advent of wide aspect ratio displays, I think only the address and title Bars should be displayed along the top of the screen. Menu bars should be displayed vertically, preferably in the style of Visual studio toolbox, where they can be pinned in place if wanted.
Even though displays are getting larger, I would like to see more of the real estate given over to actual display of content, rather than the approximately 1/6th of the display being used for things I rarely use.
looks like chrome?
stolen from chrome
Yuck. The refresh button is on the opposite side. That is one of the reasons I dislike newer versions of IE. Please tell me they are not going to do that.
change not always for the better. yeah looks a lot like chrome.
You have to remember the great (if not greatest thing) about firefox is that if you don’t like something you can just move it, or there’s an extension to do it.
I like chrome, I use it a lot and I like these mock ups as long as all the buttons are free to move and change
